  Job Description

  Duties:

  Design and develop 3D mechanical components, structural weldments, castings, sheet metal parts, and complex mechanical assemblies using CAD software (SolidWorks / AutoCAD / Creo / CATIA).

  Create detailed 2D engineering drawings, mechanical layouts, and bill of materials (BOM) in full compliance with ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) standards.

  Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA), static structural, fatigue, kinematic, and basic thermal stress calculations to validate structural integrity and performance safety factors.

  Select appropriate engineering materials (steels, aluminum alloys, polymers, composites), surface treatments, and heat treatments based on operational load, wear, corrosion, and cost constraints.

  Partner with production, tool room, and quality teams to apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles early in the product design phase.

  Lead prototype fabrication, assembly verification, design validation testing (DVT), and root-cause failure analysis on mechanical testing failures or field returns.

  Prepare comprehensive technical documentation, including Engineering Change Orders (ECO/ECN), design risk assessments (DFMEA), product specifications, and test reports

   

  Focus Skills:

  Strong technical knowledge of core mechanical engineering principles, machine design, mechanics of materials, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and manufacturing processes.

  Advanced proficiency in 2D/3D CAD modeling tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo, or CATIA) and PDM/PLM documentation workflows.

  In-depth understanding of ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), tolerance stack-up analysis, and mechanical fit clearances.

  Experience with structural analysis and FEA software (Ansys, SolidWorks Simulation) for stress, deflection, and load verification.

  Practical knowledge of common shop-floor processes, including CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, injection molding, casting, welding, and heat treatment
