  Job Description

  Duties:

  Work-holding fixtures, vises, chuck jaws, faceplates, and magnetic tables should be mounted, aligned, and fastened onto CNC machine tables or spindles in accordance with setup sheet specifications and datum origin points.

  Cutting Tool Assembly and Height Calibration: Put cutting tools, collets, and tool holders together; use height gauges, optical tool presetters, or machine touch probes to measure and adjust tool diameter and length offsets.

  Program Loading and Work Offset Setting: Use edge finders, dial indicators, or 3D touch probes to set up work coordinate systems (G54, G55, etc.) and load G-Code/M-Code programs into machine controllers (Fanuc, Siemens, Haas, Mazak).

  First-Piece Prove-Out & Trial Run Execution: Verify tool routes, avoid collisions, and generate the first first-off test component by safely executing the program in single-block mode, dry runs, and decreased feed overrides.

  First-Off Quality Inspection & Wear Offset Adjustment: Before releasing the machine to operators, use precision measurement tools to examine first-piece parts and apply the required tool wear offsets to verify dimensions match engineering drawings and GD&T specifications.

   

  Focus Skills:

  CNC Machine Setup & Mechanical Calibration Mastery: Practical experience configuring 3-, 4-, or 5-axis CNC VMC, HMC, and CNC Lathe machines, including spindle center verification, fixture alignment, and jaw boring.

  Tooling Assembly & Touch Probe Operations: Proficiency in choosing tool holders, torqueing collets, operating tool presetters, and using automated touch probes (Renishaw/Blum) for tool measurement and work offsets.

  G-Code Verification & Controller Operation: Strong knowledge of G-code/M-code structures, block delete, single block execution, feed/spindle override management, and manual program modification at the controller (Fanuc, Siemens Sinumerik, Haas, Heidenhain).

  Precision Metrology & Blueprint Reading: The ability to use precision metrology tools, read intricate engineering blueprints, and decipher Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) symbols.
