Responsibilities:
Advanced CAM Programming & Toolpath Generation: Use specialised CAD/CAM software to design and create accurate 3-, 4-, and multi-axis vertical milling toolpaths for high-speed VMC gear.
G-Code & M-Code Optimisation: To maximise surface finish and reduce cutter wear, write, read, and optimise raw alphanumeric machine instructions by manually modifying feed rates, canned cycles, spindle speeds, and z-axis clearances.
Fixture Design & Workholding Engineering: Using CAD software, design and model unique jaws, modular plate arrays, hydraulic vices, and indexing fixtures to guarantee that intricate parts maintain faultless rigidity in the face of strong, multidirectional milling forces.
Initial Configuration Prove-Out & Dry Runs: Oversee the shop floor's initial setup validation loops, including visual air-cuts, single-block dry runs, coordinate system verification, and auditing the first-off component against designs utilising height masters and micrometres.
Required Skills:
Advanced CAD/CAM Software Mastery: Using Mastercam, PowerMill, SolidCAM, or similar platforms to execute 3D simulation loops, manage boundary restrictions, and create multi-axis milling toolpaths with full operational confidence.
VMC Controller Syntax Competence: Proficiency in reading, troubleshooting, and modifying code arrays at the machine panel, as well as a thorough structural understanding of Fanuc, Siemens, Haas, or Mitsubishi VMC controller networks.
Industrial Metrology and GD&T Interpretation: Excellent comprehension of intricate engineering drawings and the ability to decipher Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) callouts at micron scales.
Calculating advanced cutting speeds, chip loads, radial engagement factors, and torque parameters over a range of material hardness classes requires strong mathematical abilities.
