• Payment Processing Specialist US Medical Billing

  Job Description

  Duties:

  ERA & Manual EOB Payment Posting: Manually process paper and post electronic remittance advisories. Benefit statements are explained and entered into practice management systems with 100% accuracy.

  Payment & AdjustmentAllocation: In accordance with payer contracts, correctly apply insurance payments, patient co-pays, coinsurance, deductibles, contractual adjustments, permitted amounts, and fee schedule write-offs.

  DenialIdentification & Routing: Use the appropriate CARC/RARC codes to identify, record, and forward claim denials, partial payments, underpayments, and non-covered services to the AR follow-up team for prompt appeal action.

  Batch balancing and daily bank reconciliation: To guarantee zero variance, compare posted batch totals in the billing system with daily bank deposits, lockbox payments, credit card receipts, and EFT payments.

  Unapplied Cash & Credit Balance Management: In accordance with healthcare accounting standards, investigate, assign, and settle unapplied payment accounts, patient overpayments, and credit balances.

   

  Focus Skills:

  Medical Billing & EOB/ERA Processing Mastery: Proficiency in reading, interpreting, and correctly posting Explanations of Benefits (EOB) from commercial and government payers on paper and electronically (835 ERA).

  Proficiency in Cash Application and Bank Reconciliation: Practical experience processing EFTs, lockbox file management, balancing daily payment batches against bank deposits, and resolving balance problems.

  Denial Code & Contractual Adjustment Recognition: A thorough comprehension of write-offs, permitted amounts, patient responsibility regulations, Remittance Advice Remark Codes (RARC), and Claim Adjustment Reason Codes (CARC).

  Practice Management (PM) & EHR Software Navigation: Useful knowledge of electronic health record (EHR) systems and healthcare billing software
