Job Description
The main 'Manufacturing Operations Anchor, Shop-Floor Execution Engine, Line Throughput Specialist & Process Efficiency Guardian' in our manufacturing operations is the Production Engineer in Manufacturing Industries Production Planning, Shop-Floor Execution, Line Efficiency, Cycle Time Optimisation & Process Engineering Specialist. Your main responsibility is to carry out daily production schedules, oversee line assembly/machining workflows, optimize cycle times, remove shop-floor bottlenecks, and enforce lean manufacturing practices throughout the factory floor, while plant directors and operations managers set overall production targets, manufacturing budgets, and plant capacity roadmaps. As the "Guardian of Production Throughput, OEE Targets, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Shop-Floor Safety," you assume direct execution responsibility for increasing shift production and meeting daily manufacturing goals in a safe and effective manner.
Responsibilities:
Daily Production Execution & Target Achievement: Oversee daily shop-floor manufacturing operations, allocating personnel and equipment resources to meet client delivery timelines and budgeted shift production volumes.
Line Balancing & Cycle Time Optimisation: To increase line throughput and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), analyse assembly/machining line operations, perform time-and-motion studies, optimise station balance, and shorten cycle times.
Scrap & Rejection Minimisation: Keep an eye on hourly scrap/defect rates, collaborate with QA engineers to analyse non-conformances' root causes, and take prompt corrective action on the shop floor.
Process Standardisation & SOP Enforcement: Make sure that all production workstations strictly adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions, process parameters, and product control plans.
Lean Manufacturing & 5S Implementation: Promote continuous improvement programs to reduce process waste, enhance shop floor organization, and simplify workflow logistics.
Skills:
Shop-floor Manufacturing Execution & Operations Management: Excellent hands-on knowledge of assembly methods, machining operations, production line supervision, and discrete or process manufacturing workflows.
Line balancing, time-and-motion studies, cycle time optimisation, 5S, Kaizen, Kanban, Poka-Yoke, and value stream mapping are all practical skills in process engineering and lean manufacturing.
Root-Cause Analysis (RCA) & Quality Control: The ability to apply Pareto charts, Ishikawa (Fishbone) diagrams, and 5-Why analysis to address shop-floor process flaws and lower scrap rates.
EHS & Shop-Floor Safety Leadership: Strict adherence to ergonomic standards, machine safety interlocks, personal protective equipment (PPE) compliance, and Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) regulations.
