• Mold Setter Injection Production Support

  Job Description

  The Mold Setter executes tool changeovers, mold mounting, utility connections, and initial setups on plastic injection moulding machines. This role ensures minimal setup downtime through Single-Minute Exchange of Die (SMED) principles while maintaining strict tool protection, machine safety, and initial part clearance protocols.

   

  Responsibilities:

  Mold Changeover & Mounting: Safely align, mount, and clamp injection molds onto machines  using torque tools, hydraulic clamps, or magnetic platens.

  Utility Hookups & Leak Testing: Connect and verify cooling water lines, chillers, Mold Temperature Control (MTC) units, hydraulic core pulls, hot runner cables, and air blow circuits.

  Safeguarding & Purging: Set mechanical ejector stops, verify Low-Pressure Mold Protection (LPMP) limits, execute Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, and assist during material purging and trial shots.

  Rigging & Overhead Crane Operation: Safely operate overhead bridge cranes, hoists, and eyebolts during tool transportation, loading, and unloading.

  Setup Analytics & Downtime Logging: Record mold changeover durations, setup delay causes, maintenance issues, and trial clearance status using daily tracking logsheets and spreadsheets

   

  Skills:

  Education: ITI / Trade Certificate / Polytechnic Diploma in Tool & Die Making, Plastics Technology, or Mechanical Engineering.

  Experience: 2–6+ years of hands-on experience as a Mold Setter or Tool Setter in plastic injection moulding operations (automotive, packaging, medical devices, or consumer durables).

  Technical Mastery: SMED methodologies, overhead crane operations, LOTO safety protocols, LPMP verification, hot runner wiring, and cooling circuit balancing
