  Job Description

  Duties:

  Develop parametric 3D models and detailed 2D production drawings of mechanical parts, assemblies, and weldments using SolidWorks.

  Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to ensure proper fit, form, and function across multi-part assemblies.

  Conduct Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) evaluations to optimize production costs and reduce lead times.

  Perform basic structural, thermal, or motion simulations using SolidWorks Simulation (FEA) to validate design integrity.

  Create and manage structured Bill of Materials (BOM), exploded assembly views, and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) within SolidWorks PDM.

  Design custom manufacturing aids, such as assembly jigs, fixtures, molds, press tools, or automated cell components.

  Collaborate with prototype shops, suppliers, and shop floor operators to resolve design-related production issues and incorporate feedback into revisions

   

  Focus Skills:

  Advanced expertise in SolidWorks (3D Modeling, Sheet Metal, Weldments, Surfacing, Large Assembly Management, and Drawing creation).

  Practical understanding of GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, and mechanical design principles (materials selection, stress points, kinematics).

  Experience with Product Data Management (PDM) systems for version control and drawing approval workflows.

  Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes (machining, sheet metal fabrication, casting, injection molding, welding).

  Strong analytical skills, spatial visual-reasoning, and creative technical problem-solving
