• NPD Engineer Prototype Testing & Product Validation

  Job Description

  Duties:

  Design & DFM/DFA Review: Evaluate 2D drawings and 3D CAD models; execute Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) feasibility studies to optimize cycle times, material usage, and process repeatability.

  Prototyping & Tooling Development: Coordinate quick-turn prototyping (3D printing, CNC machining, soft tooling); collaborate with toolmakers to approve die/mold design concepts and oversee initial tool trials.

  APQP & PPAP Documentation: Author core quality gate documentation including Process Flow Diagrams (PFD), Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), Control Plans, and complete Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) submission dossiers.

  Process Design & Trial Runs: Establish manufacturing process parameters, design jigs/fixtures/gauges, coordinate pilot runs (Run-at-Rate trials), and validate line capacity and capability (Cp/Cpk).

  Project Analytics & Cost Tracking: Track project milestones, engineering change orders (ECO), tooling budget expenditure, product cost variance, and ramp-up timeline metrics using daily engineering tracking spreadsheets

   

  Focus Skills:

  Education: B.E. / B.Tech / Diploma in Mechanical, Automotive, Production, Mechatronics, or Industrial Engineering.

  Experience: 2 to 5+ years of experience as an NPD Engineer, NPI Specialist, or Design & Development Engineer in manufacturing setup (automotive, precision machining, plastics, or sheet metal).

  Technical Mastery: 3D CAD modeling (SolidWorks, CATIA, or Creo), APQP/PPAP core tools, GD&T blueprint interpretation, DFM/DFA principles, tooling trial debugging, and project management.
