  Job Description

  The Production Engineer in Manufacturing Industries is responsible for optimizing manufacturing processes, driving line efficiency, reducing cycle times, and ensuring continuous production output with zero-defect quality standards. Working closely with plant managers, shop-floor operators, quality control, and maintenance engineers, this role bridges engineering design and floor execution by establishing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), implementing Lean/Six Sigma tools, and resolving technical process bottlenecks.

   

  Key Duties

  To increase throughput, shorten cycle times, and get rid of non-value-added stages, analyse and optimise current manufacturing processes, line layouts, and workflow sequences.

  Create, evaluate, and update Control Plans, Work Instructions (WI), Process Flow Diagrams (PFD), and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

  Use line balancing strategies and Lean Manufacturing approaches (5S, Kaizen, Kanban, Poka-Yoke, Single-Minute Exchange of Die, or SMED).

  Oversee the root-cause analysis (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone Diagram) for equipment downtime, process variances, quality rejects, and line stoppages.

  Plan Preventive/Autonomous Maintenance procedures and perform Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) in conjunction with the maintenance and tooling teams.

  Keep an eye on important manufacturing measures, such as labour productivity, first-pass yield, scrap percentage, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).

  Help with pilot runs, shop-floor tooling/jig design verification, process validation, and new product introduction (NPI).
