  Job Description

  Duties:

  Machine Operation & Setup Execution: Based on technical blueprints, initialize, set up, and operate Vertical Machining Centers (VMC) to carry out error-free production runs for face milling, pocketing, slotting, contouring, drilling, and tapping.

  Tool Carousel Selection & Offset Calibration: Set the tool length, diameter, and wear offsets precisely by inserting cutting inserts, solid carbide endmills, face mills, drills, and taps into the automatic tool changer (ATC).

  Program Loading & First-Part Vetting: Before executing the first piece, download the designated multi-axis program files into the machine controller and thoroughly check the tool paths using dry runs and single-block executions.

  Precision Dimensional Inspection: Verify final item specifications against engineering prints using high-precision micrometers, vernier calipers, bore gauges, height gauges, thread plug gauges, and dial indicators.

   

  Focus Skills:

  Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and blueprint literacy: exceptional ability to grasp complex tolerance limits, flat/parallel limitations, surface finish values, and industrial engineering drawings.

  Precision Metrology Tool Command: Total proficiency with digital and mechanical measurement tools to verify accurate locations, inside diameters, counterbores, and pocket depths.

  VMC Controller Interface Navigation: Excellent practical ability to navigate machine controller interfaces in order to clear alarms, skip blocks, and modify coordinate systems (G54-G59).

  Mechanical aptitude and shop floor safety: Quick reflexes to identify unusual spindle noises, chattering vibration frequencies, or tool smoke; prompt emergency stops to safeguard multi-axis spindles and fixtures.
