• VMC Operator Production Machining & Tool Setting

  Job Description

  Duties:

  Set up and operate 3-axis, 4-axis, or 5-axis Vertical Machining Centers (VMC) to perform milling, drilling, boring, tapping, and reaming operations.

  Secure raw material workpieces onto machine tables using vices, clamps, fixtures, or custom work-holding devices.

  Load cutting tools into tool magazines, set tool length/diameter offsets, and verify tool presetter values prior to running programs.

  Perform first-piece inspection and run full production batches while monitoring spindle load, coolant pressure, chip evacuation, and cutting sounds.

  Measure machined components using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, and depth micrometers to ensure alignment with GD&T specs.

  Adjust CNC/VMC control panel parameters, work offsets (G54-G59), and tool wear values to maintain tight dimensional tolerances.

  Clean and maintain VMC equipment, manage chip disposal, check lubrication levels, and uphold 5S workplace safety standards on the shop floor

   

  Focus Skills:

  Strong practical experience operating VMC machinery with major controllers (e.g., Fanuc, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Haas, or Heidenhain).

  Expertise in reading mechanical engineering drawings, process plans, and understanding Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

  Proficient in using mechanical inspection tools (vernier calipers, micrometers, dial gauges, height gauges, bore gauges).

  Fundamental understanding of G-code and M-code commands to perform tool wear offsets and program verification.

  Excellent mechanical aptitude, high precision, spatial visualization, and attention to detail
