  Job Description

  Our manufacturing division's "Core Structural Joiner" and "Metal Fusion Craftsman" is the MIG Welder (GMAW Production & Heavy Structural Fabrication Specialist). Your main task is to set up welding equipment and perform aesthetically pleasing, high-strength welds on a variety of metal assemblies, turning unique structural tubes, laser-cut plates, and loose raw components into durable, production-ready fabrications. As the "Guardian of Joint Penetration and Weld Soundness," you are directly responsible for cleaning raw material faces, modifying gas flow mixes, controlling wire-feed deposition speeds, operating actual torches, and eliminating slag or weld spatter.

   

  Responsibilities

  MIG Welding Execution (GMAW): Apply superior Metal Inert Gas (MIG/GMAW) welding processes to aluminum, carbon steel, or stainless steel structures in various locations.

  Blueprint & Weld Symbol Interpretation: To ascertain precise bead sizes and joint designs, read and interpret geometric layouts, standard AWS/ISO weld symbols, and industrial fabrication drawings.

  Fixture Setup & Fit-Up Tack Welds: Position raw components manually or within welding jigs, confirming alignment with squares, tape measures, and clamps before fastening with tack welds.

  Pre- and Post-Weld Material Preparation: Use angle grinders, wire brushes, or chemical degreasers to clean joint paths. Dress finished joints by eliminating slag, spatter, and extra reinforcement.

  Visual Weld Inspection: To ensure compliance with QA standards, self-audit finished beads for typical profile defects such undercut, pinholes, incomplete penetration, or extreme heat discoloration.

   

  Skills:

  GMAW Equipment & Torch Control Mastery: Extensive practical expertise in regulating torch angles, arc lengths, travel speeds, and weave patterns to reliably deposit sound metal beads.

  Blueprint Reading & AWS Welding Symbol Literacy: Accurately locate and size welds without supervision thanks to a strong grasp of structural blueprints and fabrication layouts.

  Expert use of clamping fixtures, framing squares, caliper rules, and weld fillet gauges to confirm joint preparation parameters is known as industrial metrology and fit-up tool fluency.

  Thermal Distortion Control Strategies: To reduce heat warp across thin or heavy metal plates, practical understanding of stitch welding, pre-heating, chill bars, and back-stepping procedures is essential.
